Reservation Fee:
In compliance with California AB 506 (2026), we do not accept “non-refundable deposits” for the purchase of an animal. Instead, we utilize a tiered Service-Based Reservation Fee model. This fee compensates the Breeder for the actual administrative labor performed, including buyer screening, pedigree research, waitlist management, and the removal of a specific puppy from the active market.
Our Fee Structure for clients:
1. Nature of the Fee: To reserve a puppy, Buyer shall pay a Reservation Fee determined by the Breeder. This fee is not a “non-refundable deposit” for the animal itself, but rather a payment for the Breeder’s administrative services, including litter planning, pedigree research, buyer screening, and the removal of a puppy from the active market.
2. Refundability & Earned Fees: In compliance with California law, all funds are refundable until they are “earned” by the Breeder through administrative labor and lost opportunity costs. The parties agree to the following schedule:
Point of Sale Forfeiture (8 Weeks): If a puppy has been selected and the Buyer fails to take ownership at 8 weeks, the entire fee is retained by the Breeder to offset the costs of emergency re-homing, additional boarding, and re-advertising.
Pre-Birth (Planning Phase): If the Buyer cancels before the puppies are born, 85% of the fee is refundable. The Breeder retains 15% as a service fee for the initial application processing and waitlist management.
Early Post-Birth (Weeks 1–4): If the Buyer cancels while puppies are under 4 weeks of age, 35% of the fee is refundable. The Breeder retains 65% for the costs of neonatal care, individual health monitoring, and the “holding” of the puppy during its highest marketability period.
Late-Stage Cancellation (Over 4 Weeks): If the Buyer cancels when puppies are older than 4 weeks, 0% of the fee is refundable. At this stage, the Breeder has fully performed the service of raising and reserving a specific animal, and the cancellation causes significant administrative damage in finding a new suitable home.
Transfers to Different Litter: Requests to transfer a reservation to a different litter are FREE and must be made in writing. However, this must be granted and approved in writing by the Breeder at the Breeder’s sole discretion.
All associated fees for payment processing are NOT refundable.
Step 3: Puppy Selection, Reservation Lists & Balance Due (If you were on a reservation list). If you want to get on a reservation list, please email us. The process will then go as follows. When the puppies are 4 weeks old, we will contact you to pick your puppy, if you have not already selected a puppy. (This will be in the order that reservations were made.) We DO NOT take reservations based on sex or colors of puppies. We take reservations based on selection order for a particular litter. If there is not a puppy that meets your requirements when it is your turn to pick, you can move your reservation to a future litter. The day you select your puppy, the remainder of the purchase price will be due if not meeting up in person for delivery. You may pay via Venmo (preferred) Zelle, Paypal, CashApp or credit card (Paypal & credit card will have the additional processing fee of 4% added). If meeting in person for delivery your balance will be due when the pup is given to you at pickup.
If you were not on a reservation list and you want to purchase a puppy that has already been born and posted on our website, please see steps above.
Step 4: Plan for Pick Up or Delivery. Make plans as early as possible with us on how you would like to receive your puppy when they are 8 weeks old. If meeting in person: dates, time and location will be arranged. If having the puppy transported, all fees associated with transport must be paid 1 week before transport. It is the responsibility of the buyer to secure transport, unless an agreement with Southern Utah Doodles and Poodles is made in advance. We have an extensive network of transporters we have used for years and will be happy to help arrange transport at the buyers expense. If picking up in person we prefer cash, as it seems like electronic payments that day always have a problem being transferred without issues. We are on a tight schedule for delivery times with other clients and need to have zero hassles with electronic funds being transferred. Also, if you decide to pay via credit card or PayPal additional fees of 4% will be charged to cover the transaction fees will be incurred. A puppy will not be released until it is paid in full, unless the Finance Program is being used.
Delivery Options: We generally try to make a delivery trip for each litter to a location that is close for multiple buyers. We also offer delivery to the door of your home, but this usually will have an additional added expense vs. meeting us in a central location. We also work with Flight Nannies and can get a pup delivered to an airport near you. Here is a general breakdown of transport costs:
Las Vegas, NV – FREE
Southern California – $600.00
*Flight Nanny Anywhere in the USA – Estimated $900.00 – *Exact Quote will need to be given
If you have a questions about delivery please contact us and we can give you more details. We also can help line up transport if needed, this is usually the responsibility of the buyer, but we have over a decades worth of contacts with delivery services. In most cases we can line one up quickly. All delivery service expenses are the sole responsibility of the buyer. If you need other transportation options, please contact us and we can get you pricing.
Step 5: Prepare. Stay updated and prepare your home for your new arrival.
We recommend that you have the following items prior to your puppies arrival. See the link below for our Grooming Guide. It contains links to other products we recommend.
• A kennel with a divider which will allow you to increase the available space for your puppy as it grows.
• A slip lead is our preference to train on leash, however you could use a normal leash and collar.
• ID tag to go on the collar. Or order a custom collar with brass nameplate.
• Puppy shampoo, comb and brush.
• Chew toys!
• Stainless steel bowls for food and water
Step 6: Puppy Goes to Their New Home! When your puppy is 8 weeks old they are ready to go to your home as a loving new addition to the family. Whether you plan to pick up your puppy or have it delivered, your new family member will be a welcomed addition to your family.
Congratulations and we can’t wait for you to receive your newest family member and welcome to the Southern Utah Doodles & Poodles Family!
