Guardian Program

  • We currently have a few different dogs/puppies ready for guardian homes. Mini Goldendoodles, Mini Poodles, Moyen Poodles. Both male and females and all ages. Please scroll down on this page to view them. Please send us an email or text if interested.

Southern Utah Doodles & Poodles has decided to offer a Guardian Home Program. A Guardian Home is a permanent home for one of our breeding males or females.

Guardian homes must be located within a 2 hour drive from St. George, in Utah. In rare cases we may also be open to a guardian home in Northern Utah.

Becoming a Guardian Home gives you the opportunity to have one of our “Pick of the Litter” puppies as a family pet. Rather than purchasing this puppy, this puppy is given to you free of charge until their breeding career is over (4-5 litters or up to the age of 5 for females & up to the age of 7 for males). The puppy/dog is raised by the guardian home and then brought to us when it is time to breed. The dog then goes back home for most of the pregnancy and then is brought back to us for the birth and whelping of the puppies. During which time we will invite you to our home to visit the dog and puppies.

Southern Utah Doodles & Poodles retains ALL breeding rights to the puppy/dog until the contractual obligations are met. Once those obligations are met, we spay or neuter the dog at our expense and all rights to the dog are given to you solely. This program is great for families that are wanting a very high quality dog without the costs of thousands of dollars. We reserve the right to cancel our guardianship program at anytime if contractual agreements are not kept.

If you are a Guardian for one of our females you will be compensated $50 per puppy, up to $300 per litter for mini’s, and up to $400 per litter for standards. This is paid directly to you once her puppies go to their new homes. You are also welcome to schedule a visit while she is with us and play with the puppies!

As a Guardian Home you will be required to pay for the everyday expenses of owning a dog including annual exams, vaccines, food, etc. We will pay for all breeding related costs including health testing. Heath testing/breeding vet visits will be performed with our veterinarian and we will be responsible for those costs.

Becoming a Guardian Home is not for everyone. You MUST be willing and able to follow these requirements:

  • Have previous experience with dogs.
  • Be willing to teach basic commands such as sit, stay, and leave it.
  • Keep dog well groomed
  • Be willing to socialize your puppy. This is very important!
  • He/She must be an indoor pet and never left unattended outside, unless yard is fully contained with no chance of escape.
  • Feed a premium, quality food.
  • All other dogs in the home MUST be fixed if they are the opposite sex.
  • Provide regular exercise.
  • Willing to let us, the breeder, visit your home if requested.
  • Contact Breeder immediately in the event heat cycle spotting or a serious illness or accident. (We will train you on this)
  • Send a copy of all vet visits to Breeder if requested.
  • Must not allow he/she to mate with any unapproved dogs.
  • Provide veterinary care when needed.
  • Must live within 2 hours drive of St. George, Utah and be willing to drive there when female starts heat cycle. (No Exceptions) Heat cycles do not happen often, so they cannot be missed if breeding is wanted. In most cases we will meet you half way for transport of the dog to us if available.
  • If you are a guardian for a female dog, you must be willing to drop her off for 1-2 weeks while she is bred. Then drop her back off 1 week prior to her whelping date. She will stay with us until the puppies are weaned. In most cases we will meet you half way for transport of the dog to us.
  • If you are a guardian for a male dog, you must be willing to drop him off for 3-5 days or have him present for the breedings twice at arranged times for breeding’s, unless arrangements are made ahead of time for us to pick him up.
  • Be able to communicate with us, the breeder, about scheduling testing, mating, whelping, and anything else breeding related.
